Radiating Horse - Paard Verzameld contemporary collective Challenge n°75

 Here's my reply to the challenge n°75 of the @paardverzameldcollective "What's in a Word"

"Our most recent challenge centred on the theme Lumen, working with luminosity and a limited autumn inspired palette. Over the course of seven days, our artists explored atmosphere, composition, and serenity rather than detail, producing loose sketches alongside a final atmospheric artwork."

 "Cette fois le mot clef est Lumen, nos artistes sont invités à travailler avec la luminosité et une palette de couleur limitée automnale. Pendant les 7 jours de travail, il leur faudra explorer une atmosphère et une composition qui fera ressentir la sérénité."

-Radiating Horse;

It's funny because when I sketched this I saw it cristal clear in term of use of the colours. But I wasn't picturing, until I see the final result that in the end it would be the horse that will glow. That's a twist!!

Putting the accent on the shadow when the subject is light? Maybe I think a little too much out of the box, but still after much and much hesitation I choose to do it. In a way, isn't the shadows a proof of light?
And in the end... my choices created an unexpected light coming from the horse itself.

-Cheval Rayonnant;

C'est drôle parce que quand j'ai mis au point le croquis, je voyais très clairement comment j'allais utiliser les couleurs. Mais je n'imaginais pas à quel point le résultat ferait briller le cheval. C'était inattendu!!

Mettre l'accent sur les ombres quand le sujet c'est la lumière? Je pense peut-être de manière étrange ou inattendue mais j'ai décidé de le faire quand même. Dans un sens, les ombres sont générées par la lumière, donc? Et au final la lumière vient du sujet.

-Palette for the challenge; I broke open my new (not so new) acryl gouaches I got after @signe.of.horses.illustrations suggested them to me. I was like; if I was bold enought to assume that difficult subject, I am bold enough to finally gave them a try?

-Palette imposée; j'ai décidé d'y aller avec mes nouvelles (pas si nouvelles) gouaches acrylique que j'ai eu après qu'on me les ai suggérées. Je me suis dit que si j'étais assez courageuse pour dessiner un sujet aussi difficile, je pouvais bien être assez courageuse pour me lancer dans cette nouvelle technique.

Here's my reply to the challenge n°74 of the @paardverzameldcollective "A Work of Art is a World in Itself"

"In our most recent challenge, the theme was ‘Numazaki Pasture’ by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876–1950), a celebrated Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker. Over seven days, our artists explored atmosphere, composition, and serenity over detail, creating loose sketches alongside one final atmospheric artwork."

"Le thème de ce challenge tirait son inspiration du tableau ‘Numazaki Pasture’ par Hiroshi Yoshida (1876–1950), un peintre Japonais spécialisé dans l'estampe. Les artistes du collectifs ont été invité à réfléchir à la composition, la sérénité plutôt que le détail pour exécuter un dessin atmosphérique."

-The Pink Granite Coast; 

The reference image provided for the challenge of course is a strong one, I had a hard time to consider doing something else than a herd of horses... but well, I wanted to feel the atmospheric side of the challenge.
And then, the idea 💡
My riding mare affix is "du granite rose" because she's from the pink granite coast. Actually one of the most beautiful place I've ever seen and definely a large space that fitted my ambition... 

-La Côte de Granite Rose;

L'image de référence de ce challenge était très forte, j'ai eu du mal à m'en détacher et à considérer de dessiner autre chose qu'un troupeau de chevaux... mais je voulais surtout mettre l'accent sur le côté atmosphérique de l'exercice.
Et d'un coup, une idée 💡
L'affixe de la jument que je monte est "du granite rose" car elle est originaire de là bas. C'est une des plus belle place qu'il m'ait jamais été donné de voir et il définitivement un lieu à la hauteur de mes ambitions...

The real challenge here was working with a limited palette (imposed) thoses colours were difficult to match. I had a hard time founding a balance, but the result is pretty enough.

La vraie difficulté rencontrée a été de travailler avec la palette de couleurs (imposée) qui était difficile à faire fonctionner pour moi. Mais finalement j'ai réussi à obtenir quelque chose d'assez joli.

Instinctive Water - Paard Verzameld contemporary collective Challenge n°73

"This month, our inspiration was Franz Marc, known for his vibrant, expressive depictions of horses and bold use of colour and form."

Voici ma réponse au challenge n°73 du @paardverzameldcollective "More Inner, More Animal"

"Ce mois ci l'inspiration c'est l'artiste Franz Marc, connu pour ses tableaux de chevaux vibrants et expressifs grâce à l'utilisation de couleur et de formes audacieuses."

-For this drawing I really decided to work without thinking too much and to be instinctive...
Let go with refined sketches first, drawing quick with a search of movement. While sketching I came with a clear idea of red horses swimming though green water.

For the color I didn't planned much, just to paint over my sketches... used the viridian green as strong base for the water, created the movement as it came to my mind. Then the horses that were intented to pop with their own dynamic and cadmium red colour.

-Pour ce dessin j'ai vraiment décidé de travailler sans réfléchir et d'être instinctive...
Laisser couler sur les croquis détaillés en premier lieu, dessiner rapidement avec une vraie recherche du mouvement. Pendant cette étape j'ai eu l'idée très nettes de chevaux rouges nageant dans des eaux vertes.

Pour la couleur, pas trop de planification juste une peinture rapide par dessus le croquis... la base de l'eau a été construite avec du vert viridian, en y mettant le mouvement qui s'est dessinée tout seul. Puis les chevaux pensés pour trancher net sur la couleur verte avec leur propre dynamique et du rouge cadmium. 

My entry for the Art of the Horse (by Stone Horses company) have Won!

In march I posted about participating at the Art of the Horse competition held by Stone Horses and I'm thrilled to announce that I've won my category (flat art - traditional media).

En mars j'ai posté à propos de ma participation au Art of the Horse dirigé par la compagnie Stone Horses et je suis ravie d'annoncer que j'ai gagné ma catégorie (dessin traditionnel).

As an artist it's always a great time to archieve such a recognition.
Also I could never thank enough the fact it was open to international. AOTH is a contest that merge two of my great passion: art and modelhorse. And please, look at the georgeous models they have made inspired by my drawing.

En tant qu'artiste c'est toujours un plaisir immense d'atteindre une telle reconnaissance.
De plus, je remercie tout particulièrement cette compagnie basées au US d'avoir ouvert leur concours aux participants internationaux. l'AOTH est un concours qui permet un trait d'union entre ma passion pour l'art et pour les miniatures équines. Prenez le temps d'admirer le magnifique modèle qu'ils ont imaginé sur base de mon dessin.

"This month, the theme was ‘Aurora’—a word that represents both a natural light display and the quiet arrival of something new. Artists explored this theme using a curated mood board, challenging them to push their creativity while staying within a defined colour range."

"Ce mois ci le thème était "aurore"—un mot qui représente à la fois la lumière naturelle du matin et l'arrivée calme de quelque chose de nouveau. Les artistes ont exploré ce thème via un mood board, en cherchant la créativité dans une palette de couleur définie." 

-The wish of something great;

I'm not a morning person, more a night owl. So I'm rarely there for the dawn. I wondered: what brings me outside at dawn? Well: photography, horse riding trails in hot summer and, more recently dressage competition.
So I mixed all thoses elements, to express the hope every horse rider have: be better, archieve something great with a loved horse.
Result is a bit mystical, probably a lot more than what I expected but well...

-Le désir de quelque chose de grand;

Je ne suis clairement pas "du matin" mais plutôt un oiseau de nuit. Du coup je suis rarement là pour apprécier l'aurore. Je me suis demandée dans le cadre de ce dessin ce qui me faisait sortir à ces heures là? Et bien: la photographie, monter à cheval à la fraiche en été et plus récemment, les concours de dressage.
J'ai mixé ces éléments pour exprimer quelque chose qui sommeille au fond de chaque cavalier: être meilleur, accomplir quelque chose de beau (un objectif noble) avec un cheval aimé.
Le résultat est un peu mystique, probablement plus que prévu mais...

Somehow, I connect this drawing to this one, as it represent connection with a horse too.

Dans un certain sens, je connecte ce dessin avec celui ci, au vu du thème similaire de la connection avec le cheval.

My entry for the Art of the Horse (by Stone Horses company) - Finalist!

After much hesitation, I've decided to enter this year Art of the Horse competition held by the Stone company. As I am a traditional artist, I decided to enter a drawing (watercolor).

Après quelques hésitations, j'ai décidé d'entrer un dessin cette année à la compétition Art of the Horse menée par l'entreprise Américaine the Stone company . En tant qu'artiste en média traditionnel, j'ai donc choisi une aquarelle pour leur division correspondante.

It's a drawing that I've previously made to represent a feeling that could match by this year thema... "Harmony" the partnership between horse and a human, the relationship between artist and subject.

C'est un dessin que j'ai fait auparavant et qui représente parfaitement le sentiment qu'on devait exprimer avec le thème de cette année "Harmonie" le partenariat entre cheval et l'homme, la relation entre l'artiste et le sujet.

Today, I was announced as one of the finalist of this competition! How exciting!

Aujourd'hui, j'ai été annoncée comme finaliste de cette compétition! Comme c'est encourageant!
